Technical Education

The Department of Technical Education is one of the six Departments in the Faculty of Education, Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano. The Department was split from the department of Science and Technical Education to formed two department. The department was established in 2022 and offers two-degree programmes.

The two programmes of the Department operate academic curricular that are tailored along the stipulations contained in the National Universities Commission (NUC) Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS).

MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT

Developing preservice teachers with knowledge and skills required to become qualified teachers in science and technical education.

VISION OF THE DEPARTMENT

To prepare highly competent teachers who can make a professional difference and promote the quality of teaching and learning of technical education in Northwest zone, Nigeria and the world in general.

PHILOSOPHY BEHIND THE PROGRAMME

The programmes were made to produce a complete development of the individual student teacher to be a committed and efficient breed of the programme for Nigerian Secondary Schools and Colleges; and also, to produce high calibre professionals in Electrical/Electronics Technology Education with analytical and critical knowledge of the major sectors in contemporary business world to influence the development of a virile economy in the area.
