Software Engineering

The Department of Software Engineering at Yusuf Maitama Sule University, under the Faculty of Computing, was established with a mission to provide excellent teaching, research, and community services. From its inception, the department has emphasized academic excellence, innovation, and fostering collaboration between staff and students.

The B.Sc. Software Engineering program was introduced in the 2022/2023 academic session, marking a significant milestone in the university’s expansion into the computing and technology disciplines. The program began with an initial cohort of 42 students and a dedicated team of ten academic staff members. This foundational team worked diligently to lay the groundwork for what has quickly become a vibrant and dynamic department.

Since its establishment, the Software Engineering department has experienced remarkable growth. The number of both academic and non-academic staff has increased significantly, reflecting the department’s commitment to providing a comprehensive and supportive educational environment. This expansion has been accompanied by the acquisition of state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities, ensuring that students and staff have access to the best resources available.
