She is currently a member of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA), and the Association of University Librarians in Nigerian Universities, AULNU.
Dr. Binta started her working career as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Library and Information Science, Bayero Kano, where she has over 25 years of teaching experience. She has supervised over 20 MLS thesis and 3 PhD dissertations. She has attended notable conferences and workshops in librarianship and has published several articles in local and international journals of Library and Information science and also served as a member of editorial committee to a number of professional journals.
In addition to her class room experience she also served as the acting university librarian at the Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil, (now Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Kano) from 2014-2018, where she also chaired and served in various university committees.
Until her appointment she is an associate professor in the Department of Library and Information Science, Bayero University, Kano. Her area of research interest include reference and information services, library management, and bibliometric studies. She is also committed to providing support for teaching, learning and research through proper and effective utilization of library and information resources.
Dr. Binta is happily married with children and grandchildren.
